About the event

Don Eidman is a songwriter based in Concord, NC. He wrote the Dove nominated bluegrass song of the year 2014, “Lord in the Morning”, performed by legendary bluegrass duo, Little Roy Lewis and Lizzy Long. The Carolina Crushers recorded an entire CD of Don’s songs, all sung by NC’s own David Childers. Don has been performing in the Charlotte area for over 25 years and before that played regularly in Maryland, West Virginia, and Pennsylvania. Currently, Don has 4 CD’s in circulation.

Paul Maxwell is a musician who recently relocated to Charlotte to retire from the corporate world and spend more time pursuing his musical interests. As a solo singer-songwriter you’ll find him performing around Charlotte on acoustic guitar as “Just Paul”. You may also find him playing mandolin at bluegrass jams or bass guitar with The Reissue Band. His lyrics reflect his love of nature, gardening and other outdoor activities. Paul’s music is available on Soundcloud, and you can find him on Instagram.

Rick Spreitzer was born in Queens, New York, grew up in south Florida and has made the Carolinas home since 1992. He has released 4 CD’s (Meanderthal 2002, Dirt Tracks 2004, From the Bottom 2006 and Drifting and Drifting 2006). He is a three-time finalist at Flat Rock Music Festival’s Hank Williams Songwriter’s Contest (2003-2005). Finalist at the Don Gibson Songwriting Contest (2020). Winner at the Songwriter’s Co-Operative Songwriting Contest in Carrboro, NC (2004). For nearly 20 years, Rick has been accompanied by longtime guitarist, Kevin Edwards. His band, the Antique Babies (with Kevin Edwards on acoustic and electric guitars, Michael Wellner on bass and Rony TelOr on percussion) has been a regional fixture in the area. Rick says, “I try to write songs with emotional depth and complexity. I aspire to illuminate the redemptive qualities of the fallen and explore the cracks and flaws in our human pottery. That’s where the poetic gold lies, at least for me. To write a good song is a truly spiritual process and evidence, for me, of powers greater than myself. It’s a real honor to be considered a songwriter.”’
